Hi! My name is Chard, and I live in the Blue Mountains, just outside of Sydney, Australia. I love making delicious food that just happens to also be good for people with food sensitivities. I have found my new eating habits have given me a new lease on life and has allowed me to regain my passion for cooking. Another love of mine is visiting farmers markets, foodie trails, etc and finding great fresh produce and interesting products to cook with.
For a foodie, finding out that you are highly sensitive to gluten and eggs is pretty hard to take on board. Not to mention also being lactose intollerant and mildly sensitive to soy, shell-fish, peanuts and avocado – Yikes! I have to admit at first I felt like I was going to have to give up everything that tastes good. But it isn’t anywhere near as hard as I thought it would be. In fact, I don’t feel like I am missing out on much at all, the positives of feeling great since giving them up, far out weigh my desire for a slice of cream filled cake. I wanted to share my experience, because I know how daunting it can be when you first set out to cook allergy free, or if you want to make a meal that a friend or loved one can eat, but it really shouldn’t be. There are so many options available, you can still have most things or adapt them.
Thank you for stopping by The Sensitive Foodie, I hope you enjoy reading my posts. Feel free to leave me comments, I’d love to hear from you! If you would like to contact me by email, please send me a message at firstname.lastname@example.org
I hope to see you back here soon 🙂
Note – I try my best to check that the ingredients I use meet the ‘free’ headings I give them, but please always check the labels on ingredients you buy, especially if you have serious allergies.
