About Me
Hi! My name is Chard, and I live in the Blue Mountains, just outside of Sydney, Australia. I love making delicious food that just happens to also be good for people with food sensitivities. I have found my new eating habits have given me a new lease on life and has allowed me to regain my passion for cooking. Another love of mine is visiting farmers markets, foodie trails, etc and finding great fresh produce and interesting products to cook with.
For a foodie, finding out that you are highly sensitive to gluten and eggs is pretty hard to take on board. Not to mention also being lactose intollerant and mildly sensitive to soy, shell-fish, peanuts and avocado – Yikes! I have to admit at first I felt like I was going to have to give up everything that tastes good. But it isn’t anywhere near as hard as I thought it would be. In fact, I don’t feel like I am missing out on much at all, the positives of feeling great since giving them up, far out weigh my desire for a slice of cream filled cake.Β I wanted to share my experience, because I know how daunting it can be when you first set out to cook allergy free, or if you want to make a meal that a friend or loved one can eat, but it really shouldn’t be. There are so many options available, you can still have most things or adapt them.
Thank you for stopping by The Sensitive Foodie, I hope you enjoy reading my posts. Feel free to leave me comments, I’d love to hear from you! If you would like to contact me by email, please send me a message at chard@thesensitivefoodie.netΒ
I hope to see you back here soon π
Note –Β I try my best to check that the ingredients I use meet the ‘free’ headings I give them, but please always check the labels on ingredients you buy, especially if you have serious allergies.
Thanks for the follow! My sister in law just found out she’s gluten intolerant and is learning how hard it is to change her diet. You’re blog would be a wonderful place for her to start. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Thank you! it is difficult to start with, but let your sister in law know it gets a lot easier. If she has any questions, Iβm more than happy to share what I know, or I love a good challenge trying to work something out if I donβt π

Hey there Chard! I just discovered your blog and I love it! My husband and I have been following a plant-based diet for two years, and like you we’ve found it to be a lot easier to follow than we imagined it would be. It’s a pleasure to e-meet you and I look forward to more of your posts! Celeste π
Hi Celeste, Lovely to meet you! I’m so glad you like my blog π That is fantastic to be 2 years into your it! I would love to one day move to a meat free diet, but my husband is really not on-board with the idea. So for now, I just make a mix of both, but we have a lot less than we used to. Thanks for following and introducing yourself. x Chard

I am learning to deal with some food allergies and it seems there is a wonderful community of people out there who have found ways to adjust their diet and they are feeling better. Have a great day! Ramona
Hi Chard. I’m so glad you stopped in and followed by blog and so happy to find you. I am always searching for clean recipes without dairy, sugar and “glu”. Thank goodness we do not have any allergies or intolerances to these but after cutting down our intake it’s amazing how much better we feel. I look forward to looking through your posts. Seana
